Hi everyone,

Just wondered if anyone has contacts or knows how to go about enquiring about moorings in Antwerp? We are considering abandoning the UK, swapping our canal boat for a barge and living in Europe. We were in Antwerp for a few days during August and we liked it and wondered if anyone out there knows how easy/difficult/expensive etc they are and whether there are licensing/regulatory demands placed on the barge.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi kip we wintered once in Antwerp willem dock ( google it) the captains tony and Raymond are great wintering cost us about 1200 euros but a great place to stay you are right in the center of Antwerp just in front of the new maritime museum , we shall be going back there when we quit the south, one downside as with all city moorings is parking

Kindest regards Eric

Hi Kip,
As Eric has pointed out the Willemdok is a very nice, though expensive  (we think) marina especially in summer. What still puzzles us is that they have exclusive rights providing berths for visitors. There is one other marina but they are forbidden to offer moorings. The alternatives are to stay outside the official harbour territory, but that takes you out of the centre.
Opposite the Kattendijk lock, on the tidal Scheldt, is a waiting pontoon where you are allowed to moor for 24 hours, but only on the inside (it's quite big though).
