Thank you to all that have posted a reply. Its still as clear as mud to me. My boat is quite sound and i do have all the fire extinguishers, Life belts, etc. I just need someone to sigh off the TRIWV for me using my paper work. I have been told that it is OK to use my survey Just need a name

Thanx again to all that have responded

It's not as simple as that Mic.

Your cheapest/simplest option is to find a surveyor in the vicinity of Toulouse - he will almost certainly be authorised to examine for TRIWV compliance. He certainly won't just take your word for whether or not the boat and its equipment are up to scratch though, and will certainly want to see for himself. He should accept the hull survey you have, but it is not guaranteed. It might have been sensible to have a French surveyor from the word go, but obviously you are started down this route now. Apart from inspecting all the equipment such as extinguishers as you say, there is a myriad of other things such as bilge pumps, blue board, n.u.c. lights, sundry notices, plus you should probably carry out speed and manoeuvrability tests.

Your question really needs to be "Can anyone point me in the way of a French surveyor near Toulouse, or any other TRIWV surveyor who would travel there?" The local VNF office should almost certainly be able to help.

In the Suppliers List,Constructeur Naval Despinoy are TRIWV surveyors and might be worth a call and a chat if nothing else.

However they are near Douai, in the Nord - Pas-de-Calais. There are plenty of members based in the vicinity of Toulouse who should be able to offer more local names.

I contacted Alasdair who operates the hotel barge St Louis on the Garonne and he tells me he uses Rose, down on the Med coast. His partner / associate is Hubert Reymond, 0442 06 05 09 / 06 82 68 06 51. Hubert is completely excellent - knowledgeable and sensible, was trained in Southampton + speaks very good English.

There is apparently another in the vicinity of Bordeaux but he was not able to recommend him.

Whoops! I had not realised that Michael had asked that on the forum and assumed it was a private mail I was replying to.

If it is possible for Pete/Bob to delete my mail I would appreciate it.

I have deleted Tams post containing the email address from the online Forum - but of course it has been emailed to all subscribers, which cannot be recalled.

Please remember, if you have a message for ONE person rather than the 3-400 reading the Forum, to email them direct or use the Forum's Private Messaging system.
The PM system is very simple -
Visit the Forum online,
Find a message from the person you want to contact,
Click on the 'speech-bubble' icon below their picture.

The PM system is very simple -
Yes - if online. Impossible via email!

And accessing the PM service to reply is pretty awkward via email as well.

Far better just to use the person's email address which, if you are lucky, is displayed if you click their name and get their profile. For some reason not all email addresses are shown - inc yours?

The PM service is a feature of the online forum package. You have the option of using email.

People's profiles in the Forum (online, not by email!) only show their email addresses
a) where they use the email address to log in to the website. The profile will be headed 'Profile Name (email address)'
b) where they enter an address in their Forum profile (like me). This is shown to the right of their profile
The email address does not have to be revealed.

As this is not about TRIWV, I will move it to the AM section of the Forum, where it belongs.

I've said this before elsewhere, the 'private mail' system is
generally so awkward to use that I can rarely be bothered to answer
messages.

I'm quite happy to post mine here, the days of E-Mail addresses bei g
harvested from places like this are long gone.
