As ever, an unhappy customer does not necessarily mean the supplier (or customer!) was at fault.

When employing a surveyor, you do need to agree what depth of inspection you want; the more you want checked, the more the time and cost. The link refers to an "engine survey which cost €300". Wiring would not necessarily be a part of 'an engine survey'. You certainly don't get an in-depth survey of a boat for €300.

Coers are certainly a qualified and well-established company (http://coersexpertise.nl/language/english/index.html).

PS - There are of course many good Dutch surveyors. Some of them, used by other DBA members, are in the Suppliers List. (http://www.barges.org/members/useful-suppliers)

Coers did the survey for me when I bought a Babro dutch steel cruiser in Groningen a few years ago. The survey was thorough and the report was clear, helpful and produced in good time. I gave Coers a pretty thorough brief of what I wanted looking at/ tested & ensured he understood and accepted this in writing before the survey was done. I would advise anyone hiring a surveyor to do this to avoid any misunderstandings.

As a happy customer, my experience with Coers was good. We had a technical survey, sailing trial and hull inspection all done remotely. The report was comprehensive, and accorded with other information. To this point I've not noted anything that was omitted although we had a sound barge to start with, and I'm not all that knowledgeable in marine matters.
