Hi first I would like to thank you for the help I received to choose a navigation aid I finally chose a middle of the road price for the Garmin 70s Chart plotter, now I have 2 more queries first one should I register my barge that I am buying in Holland in the UK or reregister it in Holland under, the agent did say it would save a lot of hassle to register it in Holland,( But then I have to fly a Dutch flag on the stern). my next query is can a laptop work on the Dutch and Belgium canals, or do I need a moveable dish on a normal computer. I am new to barges and I find the forum is so handy to be able to find out all these little problems, all good helful people.

John.

Yes, you can and will find much advice about it on the Forum if you search for 'internet'.

The simplest solution is to use a sim card with mobile internet access in a 'dongle' plugged into your laptop. You will find details of 'best buy' mobile internet services for the most common countries in the DBA Knowledgebase , Communications section. (http://www.barges.org/knowledgebase/communications).

More sophisticated solutions include
- sim card in a spare smartphone or a special a WiFi router box, acting as a WiFi hotspot for all PCs, tablets, etc onboard.

Please everyone, if you're changing the subject, start a new Topic. That way, it's much easier for anyone searching for the subject in the future. I will now move the new question to its own topic
