Garmin 600 AIS setup

Hi All, can someone please advise how to go online with AIS?

We installed the Garmin AIS and from what we see Tx and RX are working and confirmed from Garmin the system is up and running.

But we cannot see our transmission on any live AIS web page. http://www.marinetraffic.com

Or on our Garmin chart plotter.

The system is registered with www.ofcom.org.uk, with call sign and mmsi number accepted on the AIS

Currently situated at Penton Hook marina…are we out of range?

Hello Kevin,

None of the internet AIS providers have coverage above Teddington so you will not show on marine traffic until you are on the tideway.

From Cookham I could see the PLA shore station that is on top of the Star and Garter home in Richmond.

If you know anybody else with AIS nearby you could carry a joint check - they will probably have it switched off on the non-tidal Thames.
