Generator Shut down

My Fischer Panda generator shuts down by closing a solenoid in the fuel supply pipe to the injection pump. The engine revs slowly die and stops after using the fuel in the pump and injection lines.

When cold starting, the motor needs a fair amount of cranking, 4.58 seconds to burst into life after a 20 second pre heat.

As an experiment I shut down the engine by blanking off the air intake, same as a car system. The next cold start, after a 10 pre heat, was almost instantaneous.

Hot starts are fine and glow plugs seem to be fine fine drawing 36 amps when on heat and resistance of each plug is correct.

Wondered if anyone has a generator engine with a solenoid operated air shut valve and would be grateful for details.

Otherwise, it could be a trip to the scrapyard and try and find a suitable car valve.
