If it exists they can get it, or a new gypsy. C

Can anyone recommend a manufacturer/outlet for 13mm/36mm pitch anchor chain to fit winch gypsy?
My barge is 116 years old, don't know if the winch is! I have tried a number of pieces of chain from various manufacturers but none fit! I think I need old chain and 45m of it. Maybe a marine scrap yard?
Many thanks

I agree re. the scrap yard - e.g. one in France where they scrap old Freycinet's. There used to be one in Conflans St. Honorine but I googled it and it has, in its turn, been scrapped! Gebroeders is at the moment in Rousseau's in Moret sur Loing - I'll ask when I'm there next. I assume its a 'dutch' or at least a 'continental' barge?

Best

There seems to be a general problem with new posts attaching themselves to old ones. Anyway I'm glad this 2009 thread has been resurrected (a third time, having had a second life in 2011).

I'm thinking of buying 55m of 16mm short chain rather than de-rusting and treating my old chain. I've tried the two suppliers on the DBA list, price seems to be about £14 per metre. However if its anything like the huge range of anode pricing it might be being sold at 20% of that price, please let me know.

I'm dubious about needing calibrated chain for that size - only three flat links (5 links in total) are engaged in my winch at any one time. Also my existing chain seems a little non standard - 16.5mm thick not 15.9mm, 51mm inside length instead of 45mm. Is that some odd Dutch standard?
