ATIS number for an Australian registered ship:. For the last few years we have been pottering around the inland waters of Holland, Belgium and France with an ATIS capable VHF but no ATIS number. This was because we could not find information on how to get one. We had no reply to enquiries to the Dutch authorities (our boat is based in Friesland) and the Australian authorities knew nothing about ATIS (probably not helped by the existence of a local scheme for trucks using the same acronym). Dutch VHF technicians were unable to help.
Today I have found the link below which clearly states that ANY vessel from a non-RAINWAT.country - not just UK vessels, should use their MMSI number with a 9 prefix.
I hope this helps others.

Should use their MMSI number with a 9 prefix.
In 2005, before any guidance from any authority, that is exactly what I did. It just seemed the logical and simple solution for non RAINWAT countries.
Probably buried in the Forum archives!

RAINWAT ATIS MMSIs decode to provide both the country and callsign. With non RAINWAT MMSIs, only the country is decoded.
