Thanks for your input Dave and Charles, I am formulating a plan to carry out upon my return to Belgium which will involve most of what has been discussed in this posting. The drive plate will have to be looked at but if there was a problem, would it not happen in forward and reverse? and I need to get over the side and have a serious look/feel at the prop.
I am still obsessed with this breather problem I may or may not have, if I change the oil and run the engine with the shaft removed and in gear should I be able to see if there is any discharge and if there is one what causes it? the oily/sooty problem I thought was a leaking exhaust has left a black coating on almost everything in the engine space, would the discharge be a misty vapour or a liquid?
Still puzzled but hopefully getting there.
