In the news - Quagga Mussel
You may have recently read or heard news articles about finding the invasive species Quagga mussel in the Wraysbury river near London (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-29570347). Some of you have had stakeholders raise queries or have been interested in what that means for the Port.
To explain some of the issues with Quagga mussels if they were to reach the tidal Thames and what can do be done to help prevent the spread of any invasive aquatic animals and plants, please find attached Environmental Bulletin 1.
An Invasive Species Alert from the Non-Native Species Secretariat is also attached – this gives some details on how to identify the Quagga mussel and how to report it if you think you have seen one.
Please circulate with staff that do not have access to emails, only printing what you need. This can also be shared with our stakeholders, direct any further queries to environment-qUMhBupuc7Zaa/***@public.gmane.org
If there are other environmental topics for which you’d be interested in receiving bulletins, please contact one of the Environment team directly or email us on environment-qUMhBupuc7Zaa/***@public.gmane.org"
