Hoop Doet Leven's foredeck crew (aka la Amiral) has a yearning for the round metal baskets that commercials use to store their mooring lines on deck. I haven't been able to find a source for these. Any suggestions?

Harvey, depends where you are. I got mine from Max Guerdin in France. Excellent buy, not cheap but well worth it. Also useful for storing tyres (on their rims, so fairly heavy to lug up from below in forepeak) to heave overboard if needed for shallow or sloping-sided moorings. I coil the ropes on top of these, plenty of room for a wheel and a 25m rope.

Oops, sorry, typo: my mooring ropes are 15m long, not 25m.

I don't know if they ship beyond Benelux but there are others. Google "drradbakken."
